That file contains the checksums (that is, md5 sums or whatever) of the shared file by the original user; thus any other can check the validity of chunks of files even if they come from an untrusted source. For user-generated messages is different: the only way to know if it’s true it’s to contact the sender directly.

You say in the case the reciber was offline, don’t you? because if it’s online the message should go directly to it.
If it’s offline the message should be saved by a few desktop client-server to be sure the availability when the reciber come online. Could this feature skip thouse kind of router?

In any case, I don’t want you think I’m obsesed to make you think p2p is the best idea. I just want to see if it’s viable.

As I say, I’m not pretty shure about those things, but a p2p network is almost free for everyone and I think it would be great :)

BTW I think your project is awesome!
